Winter Haiku
February 2001
We learned that Haiku is a form of poetry that comes from Japan. These poems usually focus on a season and follow a special syllable pattern for each of their three lines; five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line. The really fun thing about poetry is that we could break many of the grammar rules we worked so hard to learn. Poems don't have to rhyme, words don't have to be capitalized, and punctuation can be left out!

Outside
I have a snowflake
that looks like an old big bear
and one big round head

Winter
I love snow angels
I'm going to miss the ice
Snowmen nice to make

All About Winter
I have always loved
Winter. It's fun to play in
Any time you want.

Life At Winter
Watch the snowflakes fall
And view the snowy owls play
And have lots of fun.

Winter
In the winter the
Snow is like balls of cotton
That you can play in.

Snow
I've seen the snowfall
And saw a pattern in the
falling of the snow.
