Wonderful Winter Acrostic Poems
December 2002
We created winter association word lists and chose our favorite winter word. Using each letter of the word we chose, we created our wonderful winter poems! Mrs. Dingman challenged us to try using alliteration in as many lines as we could. It was fun to try to create sentences or phrases using as many words as we could that began with the same letter as the first one on the line.

Winter Days

Could you sing winter songs?
How does winter snow fall?
Rare red snow is a lot of money.
Ignore the cold, just make hot cocoa.
Should we peek out the window for snow?
The snow falls like tanks.
Measure your snow.
A reindeer pulls Santa's sleigh.
Santa is coming in the winter.

Snow Days

Sleigh riders are sledding down the slippery hills.
Normal people are sleigh riding.
Outstanding snowmen are being built.
White rabbits are hopping through the crystal white snow.

Winter Wonderland

Snowballs soar on Sunday.
Naughty children get coal and no presents.
On the day of Christmas Santa comes and I'll be excited.
When I wake up on Christmas day I'll open my presents.
Fighting friends with snowballs is fun.
Licking snowflakes is yummy.
An elf is making toys in Santa's toyshop.
King-size snowflakes are falling down.
Eating snow on Sunday is good.

Holiday Blessings

Howling snow wolves howl at the snow.
Ordinary ornaments are on a Christmas tree.
Letters are sent to Santa every year.
It's igloo time for the Eskimos.
Daddy says we have to wait to open our presents.
A reindeer jumped on my bed.
Yippee it's a snow blizzard.
Blizzards are near blizzard land and are heading into a blizzard pool.
Letters are hard to write because you want so many things.
Every Christmas I wake up really early.
Slippery snow makes me slide.
Slippers are slippery in the snow.
Igloos are cold in the winter.
Near or far Santa always sees you.
Genies have Christmas lamps too!
Snow is snowy in the snowy snow.

Santa is Coming to Town

Slippery snow on a sheet of ice in a snowy winter wonderland is scary.
Actually don't ask me if you will get a lot of American Ashley dolls for Christmas.
Nobody gets a lot of toys if they are naughty. But, if they are nice give them nicer presents.
Tia and Timara talk about their totally spooky toe socks.
A nice present is extraordinarily awesome all the time.

Snow Rocks

Samuel says Santa sings super!
Nicolas notices normal noises now since it's winter.
Oceans are frozen now since it's winter so no more people swim in the oceans anymore.
William whines well when it's winter.

I Love Snow and Angels

Angels are my favorite thing to do when snow is here.
Nessy and I play snowball fights.
Grandma and I love to make snow cones.
Eating ice cream feels like eating snow.
Living in my house and by snow makes me feel good.
