We learned that Haiku is a form of poetry that comes from Japan. These poems usually focus on a season and follow a special syllable pattern for each of their three lines; five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line. The really fun thing about poetry is that we could break many of the grammar rules we worked so hard to learn. Poems don't have to rhyme, words don't have to be capitalized, and punctuation can be left out! |
