Wonderful Winter Acrostic Poems
December 2003
We created winter association word lists and chose our favorite winter word. Using each letter of the word we chose, we created our wonderful winter poems! Mrs. Dingman challenged us to try using alliteration in as many lines as we could. It was fun to try to create sentences or phrases using as many words as we could that began with the same letter as the first one on the line.

Christmas

Santa is oh so jolly
Always wearing red and eating cookies
Never ever missing a house
To unknown years he will bring joy
Answering millions of lists

The Snow Bear

Can I play outside in the snow?
Oh no, there's a bear outside!
Lunch, we forgot about lunch!
Dad can you make us some hot chocolate?

Seven Friends

Camden canned ten carrots
Hank heated hot ham
Richard rounded one
Ian indented his identification
Stanley stood on one hand and foot
The time is ten o' clock
Master John had a very hot cup of hot chocolate
Anthony ate eight apples
Stanley also ate seven potatoes

Ways To Keep Warm

Big bows, bold and a beautiful blue
Later Lucy gets lost
An apple acts up in the afternoon
No naughty people for Santa
Kettles of cocoa are on the stove
Eggs eat Emily later on
The tree likes tea instead of water
Santa sticks soda in my stocking!

Winter Foods

Ginger Jack smells like gingery ginger
Igloos are icky ice
Nicholas has netty nets
Generals collect shiny new gemstones
Everyone eats juicy beets
Ricky ran right in the road
Bobby eats raw beets
Readers read reindeer books
Elks eat red electricity
Alex elects Alvis Alan
Dan eats dinner on the deck
Hornbills eat hot hedgehogs
Opossums eat orange orangutans
Umbrella birds eat yucky ukuleles
Salmons eat shiny saxophones
Elephants eat tiny elk

Things about Winter

Snowmen sure melt but sure enough you'll make some more.
Loving and caring is the time for Christmas.
Eggnog is eggy, it's eggier than eggs.
Ice is so cold when it's winter.
Giving toys to everyone is Santa.
Hot cocoa makes my mouth burn! Owww!
Reindeer are fun to ride on if you're flying on one.
Icicles are so COLD!
Decorating is fun.
Ice-skating is fun except when you fall.
No it's not snowing said my Mom. Yes it is I said.
Gingerbread houses we'll make those instead.

Seasons All Around

Santa sings Scooby-Doo songs that are so scary
Antarctica is a place to be cold for the Winter
Nana's nose needs a name for November
Tarzan ran into ten trees in the Tropical Forest
Alfa's ants are from Alabama

Winter

Christmas is cold
Hot chocolate makes me warm
Ryan is my best friend and we both play in the snow
Is it just me or is it just cold
Sometimes I feel warm but not all the time
Time is passing by very soon
My mom keeps me warm in the winter
A nice cup of tea might help
So now I get to take care of myself
